A new chromium(II) sulfide, Lu2CrS4, with a novel structure was prepared by a solid-state reaction. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern could be indexed as a tetragonal system, with a = 7.46373(2) Å, c = 22.6338(2) Å, and space group I4̅2d (No. 122). Rietveld analysis of the pattern provided the crystal structure consisting of CrS6 and LuS6 octahedra sharing edges and apexes and revealed a rock salt

Chromium(II) sulfide, Y 2 CrS 4 , prepared by a solid-state reaction of Y 2 S 3 and CrS, showed an antiferromagnetic transition at 65 K. The neutron diffraction patterns at 10 and 90K were both well refined with the space group Pca2 1 . At 90K, cell parameters were a = 12.5518(13) A, b = 7.5245(8) A, and c = 12.4918(13) A. At 10K, magnetic peaks were observed, which could be indexed on the same unit

Abstract GaCr2S4 has been prepared from the binary sulfides by solid state reaction at 1150°C. It crystallizes in the spinel structure with a = 993.6 pm. Thecompoundismetastableatroomtemperatureandcanonlybeobtainedbyquenchingfromthereactiontemperature. Above 1150°CacompleteseriesofmixedcrystalsbetweenGaCr2S4andGa2/3Cr2S4 can be obtained. The IR spectra of the compounds are given and discussed.

The formation of S3− anionradicals has been observed by the EPR method on the surface of supported , , and catalysts upon their interaction with H2S. Properties of S3− with respect to adsorption of different molecules such as O2, H2O, NH3, SO2, C3H6, and H2S were also investigated.
