    The chromium co-ordination chemistry of three 1,3,5-triazacyclohexanes bearing hydroxyl-functionalised substituents on nitrogen has been explored. The complexes [CrL3(C3H6N3R3)] (L = CO, R = CH2CH2OH, CH2CH2CH2OH or o-hydroxybenzyl; L  = Br, R = CH2CH2CH2OH) have been prepared.     1,3,5-Tri(4-pentynyl)-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane (tptach), a 1,3,5-triazacyclohexane ligand with three pendant alkyne groups, was synthesized. The metal tricarbonyl adducts [Cr(CO)3(tptach)] and [Mo(CO)3(tptach)], featuring a tptach co-ordinated to the metal centre via only the three nitrogen atoms, were prepared by reaction of tptach with reactive sources of “M(CO)3”. The chromium trichloride adduct [CrCl3(tptach)] was synthesized in low yield via the reaction of tptach with [CrCl3(thf)3]. Structural studies of [CrCl3(tptach)] and another chromium trihalide–tach adduct, [CrBr3(tmtach)] (tmtach = 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane), were made.

  • An unexpected pentacarbonyl chromium complexation of a cyano group of the ABC core of cephalotaxine

    A new penta-carbonyl chromium(0) complex of the type [Cr(CO)(5)(L)] (L = tetracyclic pyrrolobenzazepine unit 3) was surprisingly obtained by reacting [Cr(CO)(3)(naphthalene)] or [Cr(CO)(3)(tmtach)] with the tetracyclic pyrrolobenzazepine unit 3 in octane-ether/THF-solvent mixtures or acetone under ambient temperature or reflux. The new complex 13 has been characterized by spectral analysis including IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR data. For comparison purposes, the safrole-tricarbonyl chromium(0) complex 12 was prepared and characterized. X-ray diffraction analyses of both complexes were determined. Based on the above data, an octahedral structure has been assigned to the new complex 13. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
