    Photolysis of Cp′(CO)2FeSiMe2O(2-C5H4N) (1a: Cp′=η5-C5H5 (Cp), 1b: Cp′=η5-C5Me5 (Cp*)) afforded Cp′(CO)Fe[κ2(Si,N)-SiMe2O(2-C5H4N)] (2a: Cp′=Cp, 2b: Cp′=Cp*) in good yield each. These cyclic compounds also formed in moderate yields through photoreaction of Cp′(CO)2FeSiMe3 with HSiMe2O(2-C5H4N) (3).     Li[(η5-C5Me5)M(CO)2] (M=Ru (1-Ru), Fe (1-Fe)) were generated by deprotonation of the transition metal hydride (η5-C5Me5)M(CO)2H with n-BuLi in tetrahydrofuran (THF). The reaction proceeded at −45 °C immediately. Reactions of 1 with various electrophiles (Me3SiCl, pTol2HSiCl, Me2SiCl2, MeSiCl3, SiCl4, Me3SiSiMe2Cl, and Ph2GeCl2) afforded the corresponding nucleophilic substitution products (η5-C5Me5)M(CO)2ER3

    The tellurosilyliron complex Cp*(CO)2FeSiMe2TePh (1) was synthesized by treatment of Cp*(CO)2FeSiMe2Cl with LiTePh. Irradiation of complex 1 and acetone in toluene led to dissociation of a CO ligand and insertion of acetone into the silicon–tellurium bond to afford the five-membered metallacycle Cp*(CO)Feκ2(Si,Te)-Me2SiOCMe2TePh}.
