Acyl CO bond cleavage in Cp*2TiCOR compounds: formation of benzene derivatives by Cp*-ring expansion involving incorporation of the acyl carbon atom (Cp* = η5-C5Me5)

with (CpMo(CO)3)2 to yield complexes Cp*2Ti(η2-COR)(μ-OC)MoCp(CO)2, which undergo acyl CO band scission with concomitant formation of benzene derivatives at room temperature. The benzene derivatives are formed through ringexpansion of the Cp* ligand by incorporation of the RC fragment of the acyl group. The acyl oxygen is incorporated into a dimeric titanium oxo complex.
