The structure determination of mu-[meso-1,2-bis(phenylsulfinyl)ethane-S:S']bis[cis-dichloro(triethylphosphine)platinum(II)] revealed the occurrence of discrete dimers, formed by two platinum complexes related by an inversion centre and connected by the (-CH2-CH2-) group attached to the S atoms, with the centre of the C-C bond [C13-C13' = 1.54(1) Angstrom] located at the origin. The metal has a cis-square-planar coordination environment, and the geometries about the P and S atoms are tetrahedral.
