The reaction of CH3C(CH2Cl)3 and NaSb(C6H5)2 in liquid ammonia leads to Sb2(C6H5)4 (I). Using CH3C(CH2Br)3 instead of CH3C(CH2Cl)3 results in the formation of I and CH3C[CH2Sb(C6H5)2]3 (II). Treatment of II with gaseous HCl in dry CH2Cl2 yields CH3C(CH2SbCl2)3 (III) under elimination of benzene.
