Treatment of [(η-C5H5)(OC)2MnCC6H5]BBr4 1 and [(η-C5H5)(OC)2ReCC6H5]BBr4 2 with the carbonyl monoanion [Mn(CO)5]– 3 in THF at low temperature afforded the ketenyl bridged complexes [Mn2µ-C(CO)C6H5}(CO)6(η-C5H5)] 6 and [ReMnµ-C(CO)C6H5}(CO)6(η-C5H5)] 7 respectively.
