Abstract Magnetic properties of polycrystalline samples of R2Pt compounds (R = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Tm) are presented. The Gd, Td, Dy, Ho based compounds are ferromagnetic with Curie temperatures ranging between 155 and 17 K. Er2Pt and Tm2Pt are antiferromagnetic with Neel temperatures of 9 and 5 K respectively.
