Reversible activation: Activation of H2 by scandium terminal imido complex through 1,2-addition provided the first structurally characterized scandium terminal hydride. DFT investigations further highlighted the easiness of H−H bond cleavage over the Sc=N double bond. This hydride can also release H2 to regenerate the imido complex, making the H2 activation reversible.

Reactions of scandiumterminalimidocomplexes with CuI and [M(COD)Cl](2) (M = Rh, Ir) show two interesting reaction patterns, and the formed heterobimetallic complexes have intriguing structural features and show promising catalytic properties.
