  The cationic organouranium(iv) compounds [U(eta-C5H5)(3)(thf)]BPh(4) (thf = tetrahydrofuran) 1. [U(eta-C(5)Me(5)) (NEt(2))(2)(thf)(2)] BPh(4) 2. [U(eta-C(5)R(5))(2)(NEt(2)) (thf)]BPh(4) (R = H 3 or Me 4), [U(eta-C(5)Me(5))(2)(NMe(2))-(thf)]BPh(4) 5, [U(eta-C8H8)(NEt(2)) (thf)(2)]BPh(4) 6. [U(eta-C(5)R(5))(eta-C8H8) (thf)(2)]BPh(4) (R=H 7 or Me 8) have been synthesized from the neutral amide precursors by protonolysis of the U-NR(2) (R = Et or Me) bond with NHEt(3)BPh(4); the crystal structures of 2 and 8 have been determined.
