  Exposure of the monomeric germanium silylamide Ge[N(SiMe3)2]2 to molecular oxygen generates the unusual crystalline digermoxane [Ge{N(SiMe3)2}2(mu-O)]2, characterised by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallographic data [Ge-O (av.) 1.805(9) angstrom; O-Ge-O (av.) 87.5(4), Ge-O-Ge(av.) 92.5(4)-degrees].
