  The title complexes which contain a tetrahydrofuran-2-one ring were obtained by reaction of [(OC)(5)M=C(OMe)CH2]Li--(+) (M = Cr, W) with fumaroyl dichloride. Presumably but-3-enolides are formed as intermediates which undergo a 1,3 H shift. The chromium complex was characterized by X-ray diffraction.
