The reaction of indium(I) bromide with alpha,omega-alkanediylbis(bromomercury) complexes (alkane = butane, pentane, and hexane) resulted in formation of the corresponding alpha,omega-alkanediylbis(dibromoindium) compounds, which were isolated as THF adducts. The THF molecules of the complexes are easily displaced Ey bromide anions, thus affording the corresponding alpha,omega-alkanediylbis(tribromoindate) dianions.
