Carbon−Carbon Bond Activation in Biphenylene. Effect of η6-Coordination to Manganese Tricarbonyl
摘要:
Cleavage of a strained C-C bond in the four-membered ring in biphenylene (BP) is enormously facilitated by coordination of the electrophilic fragment Mn(CO)(3)(+) to one of the aromatic rings. Thus, the weak nucleophile Pt(PPh3)(2)(C2H4) is inert toward free BP, but reacts within seconds with [(eta(6)-BP)Mn(CO)(3)](+) to insert Pt(PPh3)(2) into a C-C bond.
