A novel bifunctional bridging phosphinomethyl-alkoxycarbene ligand from (diphenylphosphinoacetylene)-ruthenium complexes

Some new neutral and cationic [HC = C(PH2)P](eta(6)-arene)ruthenium(II) complexes have been prepared, namely (eta(6)-arene)Cl2RuP(Ph2)C = CH and [(eta(6)-arene)(L)ClRuP(Ph2)C = CH]+ (L = PMe3, SMe2). Activation of the terminal alkyne function allowed formation of unsymmetrical dinuclear derivatives in a process involving formation of a bridging phosphino-methoxycarbene ligand.
