  A rare mercury coordination network containing left- and right-handed helical chains [HgL1Br(2)](n) center dot nDMF (1) [L1 = 1,4-bis(3-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene] and dinuclear complex Hg(2)L2Br(4)(DMF)(2)] (2) [L2 = 1,4-bis(2-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene] have been synthesized.
