Abstract The ring-puckering vibraion of μ-mercaptodiborane and DSB2H5 have been investigated. The 1 ← 0 transition is assigned to the Q branch at 306.5 cm−1. The ring conformation is planar and the vibration primarily harmonic. The potential function for this vibration is V(Z) = 7.22 × 105Z4 + 5.433 × 104Z2 (cm−1) where Z is the displacement coordinate in A.
