    Two pincer-type nickel iminophosphinite complexes, [(2-(CH=NR)-6-(OPR'(2))C(6)H(3))NiCl) (R = 2,6-(i)Pr(2)C(6)H(3), R' = Ph (2a) or (i)Pr (2b)), were synthesized from the reactions of bis(1,5-cyclooctadiene)nickel(0) and corresponding iminophosphinite ligands. The solid state structures of the nickel pincer complexes were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction studies. They were successfully employed in the Kumada reaction of non-activated aryl chlorides and phenylmagnesium bromide at room temperature. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
