  The synthesis of complexes between lanthanide nitrates and MeC(CH2P(O)Ph-2)(3) (=L) in ethanol or methanol leads to the formation of polymeric complexes Ln(NO3)(3)L as alcohol solvates. The ligand adopts a chelating-bridging mode. The structures of the complexes La(NO3)(3)L . EtOH and Pr(NO3)(3)L . MeOH are reported and the coordination of L is discussed in terms of that of the related free ligand EtC(CH2P(O)Ph-2)(3).
