Dimerization of trinuclear molybdenum (IV) clusters

Two novel hexanuclear molybdenum (IV) clusters, [Mo-3(mu(3)-O)(mu-S)(3)(DTP)(3)](2)[eta(2)-mu-OOC(CH2)(3) COO-mu-eta(2)][mu(2)-BPP-N,N'] . EtOH (BPP = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, EtOH = CH3CH2OH) (1) and [Mo-3(mu(3)-S)(mu-S)(3)(DTP)(3)](2)[eta(2)-mu-OOC(CH2)(3)COO-mu-eta(2)][mu(2)-4'-BPP-N,N'] . 3CHCl(3) (2), have been synthesized by the ligand substitutions happened simultaneously on the two sites of the trinuclear molybdenum (IV) precursors. The Mo trimers are jointly linked by glutarate and BPP. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
