The reaction of [Fe(CO)(4)(HgX)(2)] (X = Cl, Br). with (BuP)-Bu-t(SiMe3)(2) leads to the two multinuclear complexes [Hg-3Fe(CO)(4)}(2)X-2] (X = Cl, Br) (1, 2) as well as to the phosphinidene-bridged mercury clusters [Hg-10Fe(CO)(4)}(4) ((PBu)-Bu-t)(4)Cl-4] (3) and [Hg-14Fe(CO)(4)}(5)((PBu)-Bu-t)(8)Cl-2] (4) In the presence of tertiary phosphines another phosphinidene-bridged cluster [Hg-12Fe(CO)(4)}(7)((PBu)-Bu-t)(4)(PtBuSiMe3)Br-2] . [(SiMe3OPPr3)-Pr-i] (5) and, when using (Bu2P)-Bu-t(SiMe3), the phosphanido-bridged cluster [Hg-5Fe(CO)(4)}(3)((PBu2)-Bu-t)(2)Br-2] (6) result. The reaction of [Fe(CO)(4)(HgX)(2)] (X = Cl, Br) with PhP(SiMe3)(2) in the presence of tertiary phosphines yields to the phosphanido-bridged mercury clusters [Hg-8Fe(CO)(4)}(4)(P2Ph2)(2)((PPr3)-Pr-n)Cl-4] (7), [Hg-8Fe(CO)(4)}(4)(P2Ph2)(2)(PPh2Et)Cl-4] (8), and [Hg-10 Fe(CO)(4)}(6)(P2Ph2)(2)((PPr3)-Pr-n)Br-4] (9). The structures of 1-9 were characterized by X-ray single crystal structure analysis.
