An i.r. spectroscopic study of 1-h1-6,7,8-h3-cis-2-trans-6-octadienediyltricyclohexylphosphinenickel(0) and its dodecadeuterio-analogue shows that this structure persists in solution and in the solid state, and provides no evidence for a rearrangement in the solid state to the bisbutadiene complex.
