trans-Fe(Ph2Ppy)2(CO)3 reacts as a neutraltridentateligand with Mo(CO)6, Ni(NCS)2, [Rh(CO)2Cl]2, CuX (Cl, Br, I) and Hg(SCN)2 to form binuclear complexes including an FeM bond. Crystal and molecular structures of the FeHg complex has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The FeHg bond distance is 2.648 Å. The effects have been evaluated of these complexes as homogeneous catalysts on the carbonylation
