  The enolates of bis(ferrocenyl)-1.3-diketones are added to coordinated ethylene, cyclohexa- and cycloheptadienyl and heptatrienyl ligands of cationic complexes to give C-C coupling and formation of polynuclear compounds 1-10 and 13-15. Also palladium complexes of bis(ferrocenyl)-1,3-diketonates can function for these reactions. The structure of Fc-C(O)-CH[CH(2)CH(2)Fc(CO)(2)Cp]-C(O)-Fc was determined by X-ray diffraction. Threefold addition of [(eta(5)-C-6H7)Fe(CO)(3)](+) to the ligands of Co(acac)(3) was observed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
