Raman and Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure Characterization of a Sulfur-Ligated Cu(I) Ethylene Complex: Modeling the Proposed Ethylene Binding Site of Arabidopsisthaliana ETR1

An ethylene complex of a thioether-ligated Cu(I) center was synthesized and characterized by Raman spectroscopy and EXAFS. Long Cu(I)-C bonds and low Cu-C vibrational frequencies reveal weak binding of the gaseous ligand.
