Protonation at one of the phenylacetylide substituents of the allylic complexes [W(cp)(CO)(2){eta(3)-H2CC[C(C=CPh)(2)]CH(2)R}] (cp = eta-C5H5), including the first cationic tungsten-ruthenium allylic vinylidene complex, R = C(Ph)=C=Ru(cp)(PPh(3))(2) (crystal structure), gave eta(4)-vinylallene complexes.
