Diiron Complex with Three Bridging Silyl Substituents

The crystal structure of hexacarbonyl-mu-(chloromethylsilyl)-bis[mu-(dimethylsilyl)]diiron(Fe-Fe), [Fe-2(CH3Cl-Si)(C2H6Si)(2)(CO)(6)], has been determined. The Fe-Fe distance is 2.705(1) Angstrom and the Fe-Si distances are 2.322(3) Angstrom. The combination of the sixfold screw axis and the uniqueness of the bridging SiMeCl moiety create rotational disorder within the unit cell.
