  Coordinative addition of [Mn(CO)(5)](-) to TeCl4 resulted in the formation of a discrete chlorotellurate, [Cl4TeMn(CO)(5)](-). The X-ray crystal structure revealed the planar TeCl4 unit to be parallel to the Mn(CO)(4) plane with the inert pair at Te in a trans position to the Mn(CO)(ax).
