‘Slipped-sandwich’-strukturen in der cyclopentadienyl-Kupfer-chemie

Copper is the only element in the 3d series from which no dicyclopentadienyl compounds are known to date. Starting from cyclopentadienyllithium and copper(I) chloride, two novel organocuprates, [PPh(4)][CuCp(2)] (1) and [Li(12-crown-4)(2)][Cu(2)Cp(3)]. 2THF (2), were prepared. The solid-state structural features in the anions of 1 and 2 are hitherto unknown; eta(2)-Cp coordination to the copper centres is observed by X-ray analysis. NMR spectroscopic analyses confirm the pronounced molecular dynamics in solution. Compounds of the general-formula LiCu(C(5)R(5))(2) are powerful Cp-transfer reagents.
