Inside and out: The external and internalsurface of silicananotubes (SNTs) can be independently modified by a sol–gel grafting reaction. The azobenzene‐based ligands on the externalsurface recognize Hg2+ through a color change, whereas the BODIPY‐based ligands attached to the internalsurface recognize Pb2+ through fluorescence enhancement. Thus, the modified SNTs selectively recognize both Hg2+
