A number of novel cyclo- and bicyclosilanes connected by linear silanylene chains have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. The UV absorption properties of all compounds were studied and found to show low-energy absorption maxima red-shifted compared to acyclic compounds with comparable chain lengths.
