Formation of Osmium-Allylphosphinomethanide Complexes by Coupling of an Isopropenyldiisopropylphosphine and Monosubstituted Allenes

Complex [Os(eta(5)-C5H5){kappa(3)-P,C,C-PiPr(2)[C(Me)=CH2]}(MeCN)PF6 (1) reacts with cyclohexylallene and ethyl carboxylate allene to give the allylphosphinomethanide derivatives [Os,(eta(5)-(CH5)-H-5){kappa(5)-P,C-a,C-b,C-c,C-d-(PPr2)-Pr-i[Ca(Me)CH2Cb(CcH(2))(CHR)-H-d]}]PF6 (R = Cy (2), CO2Et (3)). In fluorobenzene at 95 degrees C, complexes 2 and 3 evolve into the corresponding gamma-allyl-alpha-alkenyl-diisopropylphosphine compounds [OsH(eta(5)-C5H5){kappa(4)-P,C-a,C-b,C-c-(PPr2)-Pr-i[C(=CH2)CH2Ca((CH2)-H-b)(CHR)-H-c]}]PF6 R = Cy (4), CO2Et (5)). Complexes 2 and 4 have been characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis.
