High-Yield Synthesis of the First arachno-Silaborane

arachno-B9H13(SMe(2)) was transformed into arachno-MeSiB(9)H(12)(NHMe(2)) (1) by reaction with MeHSi(NMe(2))p. The new silaborane was characterized by H-1, Si-29, and B-11 NMR techniques. The {SiB9} cluster geometry is related to the B10H142- framework, with the Si atom occupying position 6.
