Novel tungsten(O) complexes containing eta(2)-allylsilane ligands (CH2=CH-CH2-SiR3, R=Me, OMe, CI) have been generated during photolysis of W(CO)(6) and allylsilanes in alkane solution, and their molecular structure has been elucidated by IR and NMR spectroscopic methods. The catalytic activity of the [W(CO)(5)(eta(2)-allylsilane)] complexes in double-bond isomerization of allylsilane leading to Z- and E-1-propenylsilane has been revealed and the mechanism of this reaction is discussed.
