  A series of new rhenium(I) complexes of the type [Re(CO)(3)(3,3'-trimethylene-2,2'-biquinoline) (L)](CF3SO3)(n), (L = CF3 SO3- pyridine (py) or para-substituted pyridine like KO-py, ph-py or NC-py; n = 0 or 1) were prepared and characterized by FTIR, H-1 NMR, and UV-vis spectroscopies and by cyclic voltammetry. The pseudo-octahedral facial configuration of these compounds was established by FTIR. The differences found in the spectroscopical and electrochemical results were associated to the effect of the para position substituent of the L pyridine ligand. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
