    Magnetic properties of Gd2Al compound in amorphous, crystalline and nitrided states
    摘要:
    Magnetic properties of Gd2Al compound in amorphous and crystalline states as well as after nitridation were investigated from 4.5 to 300 K in magnetic fields up to 50 kOe. Amorphous Gd,AI is ferromagnetic with a Curie temperature (T-c) of 114 K and is paramagnetic above T-c. In the crystalline state, it is paramagnetic above 50 K independent of the magnetic field. However, below 50 K it is antiferromagnetic with a weak ferromagnetic component or ferromagnetic according to the applied field. A held-induced magnetic transition occurs around 25 kOe. After nitridation, the weak ferromagnetic component is enhanced though the critical transition field and the Curie temperature are the same. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

    AbstractThe rare-earth metal-rich RE14T3Al3 series (RE = Y, Gd–Tm, Lu) was extended to the transition metals T = Cu, Rh, and Pd. All compounds have been prepared by arc-melting the rare-earth elements with appropriate amounts of TAl precursors. The compounds crystallize in the tetragonal Gd14Co3In2.7-type structure with space group P42/nmc. Two structures (Y14Rh2.97(1)Al3.03(1): a = 952.99(4) pm, c = 2292

    Investigations were performed on the magnetic properties of Nd2Al and Gd2Al from 4.5 to 300 K in magnetic fields up to 50 kOe. Both compounds are ferromagnetic below 50 K and transform into paramagnets with increasing temperature. However, a magnetic transition from antiferromagnetism to ferromagnetism occurs at around 25 kOe for Gd2Al below 50 K. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
