  Although vanadium(II) compounds are easily oxidised in the presence of tmen to give intensely coloured solutions, no new compounds were characterised from such reactions. However, by appropriate methods we were able to isolate [VOCl(tmen)(2)](BPh4).thf (1), [VCl3(thf)(tmen)] (11) and [VOCl2(tmen)] (M), all of which were characterised structurally.
