A series of mixedmetalcarbonyl cluster compounds of R2Sn[M(CO)x][M′(CO)y] and R2Sn[M(CO)x][M′(CO)yCp] were synthesized and their 17O NMR spectra were measured to demonstrate how 17O NMR spectroscopy is superior to IR spectroscopy to study the electronic nature of the oxygen atoms in CO groups.
