The addition of [Re(CO)(5)](-), [CpFeCO)(2)](-) and [Os(CO)(4)](2-) to the cationic ruthenium complexes [(eta(6)-C6H6)(Me3P)(2)Ru(eta(2)-C2H4)](2+), [(eta(6)-C6H6)(2)Ru](2+), [(1,5-COD)Ru(eta(7)-C8H9)](+) and [(eta(6)-C8H10)Ru(eta(5)-C8H11)](+) gives the hydrocarbon bridged complexes [(eta(6)-C6H6)(Me3P)(2)Ru(mu-eta(1):eta(1)-C2H4)Re(CO)(5)](+), {[eta(6)-C6H6)(Me3P)(2)Ru(mu-eta(1):eta(1)-C2H4)](2)Os(CO)(4))(2+), [(eta(6)-C6H6)Ru(mu-eta(5):eta(1)- C6H6)MLn](+) (MLn = Re(CO)(5), CpFe(CO)(2)), (eta(4)-C8H12)Ru(mu-eta(6):eta(1)-C8H9)MLn (MLn = Re(CO)(5), CpFe(CO)(2)) and the structurally characterized complex (eta(4)-H-8(10))(OC)Ru(mu-eta(4):eta(1)-C8H11)Re(CO)(5) respectively. Substitution of chlorine by Re(CO)(5) or CpFe(CO)(2)was observed for the reaction of [(eta(6)-C6H6)Ru(eta(6)-C6H5Cl)](2+) with [Re(CO)(5)](-) and [CpFe(CO)(2)](-).
