The magnetic properties and structures of RPt compounds (R = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, and Tm) are presented. Below their Curie temperature the compounds exhibit ferromagnetic behavior. In GdPt, the spontaneous magnetization at 4.2°K () and the small superimposed susceptibility suggest that the gadolinium moments are parallel and the exchange interactions are positive.
