Synthesis, spectroscopic, and cyclic voltammetric studies of ferrocene containing vic-dioxime ligand and its complexes with Ni(II), Cu(II), Co(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II)

A vic-dioxime ligand containing the ferrocene group anti-beta-ferrocenylethylamino p-chlorophenylglyoxime (I) was synthesized from the reaction of beta-ferrocenylethylamine with anti-chloro-p-chlorophenylglyoxime. The mononuclear Ni(II), Cu(II), Co(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) complexes of the vic-dioxime ligand were prepared and characterized using elemental analyses, mass spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-Vis spectroscopy (UV-Vis), magnetic susceptibility, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-1 NMR, and C-13 NMR) techniques. The redox behavior was studied using cyclic voltammetry and revealed metal-centered reduction processes for all complexes. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
