COMPLEXES OF (1-FERROCENYL)- (1′-FORMYL-1-FERROCENYL)-ISOPROPYLIDENE ISONICOTINOYLHYDRAZONE WITH SOME METAL(II) IONS

The complexes of (1-ferrocenyl)(1'-formyl-1-ferrocenyl)iso-propylidene isonicotinoylhydrazone with some metal(II) ions have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and H-1 NMR. In all of the complexes the ligand acts as a bidentate donor coordinating to the metal ions via the azomethine nitrogen and enolic oxygen. The redox properties of the ligand and its complexes were studied using cyclic voltammetry. Both the ligand and its bivalent transition metal complexes exhibit two distinct pairs of redox peaks displaying electrochemical characteristics of multi-component systems.
