  By reaction of BeSO4 with salicylaldehyde and related salicylaldimines the complexes [Be(Sal)(OH)](proportional to), [Be(Sal)(2)], [Be(Sal-NH)(2)], [Be(Sal-N-R)(2)] (R=i-Pr, Ph) were obtained. X-ray structure determinations have been carried out on the [Be(Sal-N-R)(2)] (R=i-Pr (i), Ph (2)) compounds. Crystal data for 1: orthorhombic, space group Pbca, a=19.665(5), b=15.030(6), c=12.801(2) Angstrom, Z=8. Crystal data for 2: orthorhombic, space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), a=14.430(5), b=16.760(5), c=17.607(5) Angstrom, Z=8. In both the structures the beryllium center displays a slightly distorted tetrahedral environment, being linked to the oxygen and nitrogen atoms from two salicylaldiminato ligands.
