  A series of ruthenium complexes, RuHCl(CO)(PAr3)(3) and RuH2(CO)(PAr3)(3), containing various triarylphosphines were synthesized. Screening of these complexes as catalysts for direct arylation of sterically congested ortho C-H bonds of aromatic ketones improved the yields of the arylation products.

  A series of cationic complexes of the type [Ru(CO)H(L2)(PR3)2] · ClO4 (L2  2py, bpy, phen, Cy-DAB) have been obtained by reaction of Ru(CO)ClH(PR3)3 (R  Ph, 4-MeC6H4; R3  MePh2) with the N-donor ligands pyridine (py), 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), or 1,4-bis(cyclohexyl)-diaza-1,3-butadiene (Cy-DAB).
