Poly(4-vinylpyridine N-oxide) as a Ligand: Its Complexes with Group IV Metal Tetrachlorides and Organotin(IV) Chlorides
摘要:
A number of Group IV metal complexes of the type [MCl(4)L(2)], [Ph(2)SnCl(2)L(2)], [Ph(3)SnClL(2)] and [Ph(4)SnL(2)] (M = Si, Ge, Sn, Ti and Zr; L = poly(4-vinylpyridine (M = Si, Ge, Sn, Ti and Zr; L = poly(4-vinylpyridine N-oxide have been synthesized by treating poly(4-vinylpyridine N-oxide) with MCl(4), Ph(3)SnCl(2), Ph(3)SnCl and Ph(4)Sn in 2:1 ratio, respectively. The results of elemental analyses, IR spectra and conductivity measurements indicate that the compounds are nonelectrolytes. An appreciable decrease in the nu N-O frequency has been observed in the IR spectra of the complexes suggesting coordination through the N-oxide. An octahedral geometry has been proposed for the central metal atom concomitant with a trans-configuration.
