  We report one-pot syntheses for a series of complexes of the type [(eta(6)-arene)(RuMe)-Me-Pi(PPh3)(2)][AlCl2- Me-2]in high yields and X-ray structures of the eta(6)-C6H6 and eta(5)-thiophene derivatives. Other derivatives include fluorobenzene and mesitylene complexes, and all of the complexes are synthesized by addition of AlMe3 to RuCl2-(PPh3)(3) in the neat arene solvent or in an admixture with hexane for thiophene and fluorobenzene.
