  Examination of the chemistry of sterically crowded (C5Me4R)(3)Ln complexes has provided access to a series of [(C5Me4R)(2)Ln](2)(mu-O) complexes: [(C5Me5)(2)La](2)(mu-O), [(C5Me5)(2)Nd(NC5H4NC4H8)](2)(mu-O), [(C5Me4Pr)(2)sm](2)(mu-O), [(C5Me4Et)(2)Gd](2)(mu-O), and [(C5Me5)(2)Sm(NC5H5)](2)(mu-O). X-ray crystallographic data on these complexes provide information on the effect of metal and cyclopentadienyl ring size on Ln-O bond distances and Ln-O-Ln angles, which vary between 173 and 180degrees in these complexes.
