A new binuclear copper(II) compound [(CuL)(2)(Tpha)](ClO4)(2) center dot 4H(2)O (I), where L = 1,3,6,9,11,14-hexaazatricyclo[12.2.1.1(6,9)]octadecane, Tpha = terephthalate dianion, has been constructed and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. Crystal analysis denotes that complex I crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/c with a = 11.115(2), b = 13.185(3), c = 16.184(3) angstrom and beta = 105.68(3)degrees. Magnetic measurements confirm that I present an antiferromagnetic interaction between the paramagnetic ions.
