The effect of substituents in ligands and of anionic composition on the exchange interaction in binuclear Cu(II) complexes based on 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol

A series of novel binuclear Cu(II) complexes based on 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol and containing aminoguanidine and hydrazinobenzthio(oxo)zole as variable chelatophore fragments were synthesized. In these complexes, Cl-, Br-, NO3-, and ClO4- are both the inner- and outer-sphere ions. The magnetochemical properties of the title complexes were compared and the anion nature was shown to influence the structure of the complexes and the strength of antiferromagnetic interaction.
