  A series of 2-(arylazo)aniline ligands were synthesised. The reaction of these ligands with HAuCl4 afforded diazoketiminato complexes of Au(III). The ligands and complexes were characterised by H-1 NMR, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopic data. The X-ray structure of one of the complexes has been determined and the formation of a diazoketiminato species has been established. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
